ADVANCED COURSE IN FAMILY HISTORY RESEARCH (ONLINE COURSE)

Having started your family history, this course will consist of 6 classes on individual topics which are not covered on the beginner’s course and will help to expend your knowledge of your family history. Four of the classes will be tutored by Ken Nisbet. English Records, Migration Records, DNA and Online Family Trees, Researching Military service during the Great War. The other classes will be one on researching Irish family history and one on using medical records to add to your family history story.

This is a highly participative course encouraging questions and discussion.

RESEARCHING THE GREAT WAR – MILITARY SERVICE AND THE EFFECT OF THE WAR ON THOSE AT HOME (ONLINE COURSE)

This new course will look at how to research soldiers, sailors, and airmen who served in the Great War. Nurses and Voluntary Aid Detachments and other roles women performed. Volunteers and Conscription, Tribunals and Conscientious Objectors. The Home Front – Blackouts, Rationing, Rent Strikes and the Anti-War Movement, Post War Commemoration and Memorials. A land fit for heroes? Ken Nisbet has researched over 400 relatives who served in the Great War. He is the author of the Nairnshire Roll of Honour 1914-1921 and is Chairman of the South of Scotland Branch of the Western Front Association and has visited many of the Great War Battlefields.
